As part of the Amazigh New Year 2975 celebrations, the Municipality of Agadir is hosting the "Id Yennayer" festivities from January 10 to 17. Organized in collaboration with the Souss-Massa Regional Council, the Souss-Massa Regional Tourism Council, and the Timitar Festival Association, this event strengthens regional cooperation to promote Amazigh culture.
Official Recognition of Amazigh Culture
This initiative follows the royal decision announced by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, declaring January 14, the Amazigh New Year, an official public holiday in Morocco. This decree highlights the recognition of Amazigh culture as an essential component of Moroccan identity, further valuing the nation’s cultural heritage.

Concerts and Traditional Performances
Spectacular concerts will take place on three major stages: Tikiouine, Place Al Amal, and the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella. These performances will feature renowned Amazigh musicians, accompanied by traditional dances such as Ahwach and Rways. Additionally, the Amazigh film "Mouga Yuchkad" will be screened in Anza, Talborjt, and Bensergao as part of the Amazigh cinema program.
Heritage Day: A Dive into Gastronomy and Traditions
To enhance the experience, Amazigh food tasting stations will be set up along Anza's and Agadir's corniches. A Tangift presentation – an authentic Amazigh wedding ritual – will also be showcased, accompanied by artistic troupes representing the cultural diversity of the Souss-Massa region.
